A Survey on Mapping Semi-Structured Data and Graph Data to Relational Data

The data produced by various services should be stored and managed in an appropriate format for gaining valuable knowledge conveniently. This leads to the emergence of models, including relational, semi-structured, graph so on. Considering fact that mature relational databases established on models are still predominant today’s market, it has fueled interest storing processing semi-structured powerful databases’ capabilities can all applied these data. In this survey, we review existing methods mapping into tables, analyze their major features, give a detailed classification those methods. We also summarize merits demerits each method, introduce open research challenges, present future directions. With comprehensive investigation problems, hope survey motivate new approaches through drawing lessons from model’s strategies, as well topic - multi-model tables.
